Abstract: Nanzhao Tuzhuan is the oldest historical record that contains the legend of Buddhism and the magical transformation of Guanyin in Yunnan． It narrates the worship of Guanyin in Nanzhao period and the history related to Nanzhao． Compared with other historical materials，the content of Guanyin transforming in Wanli version of Yunnan Tongzhi which is an important document to study the religious culture in Nanzhao kingdom，is more similar to the Nanzhao Tuzhuan: the Texual version． At the same time，in the specific historical environment，the original intention and influence of the narration about Guanyin’s transforming is worthy of our attention．
