The Eight Passes of Tengyue 腾越八关

During the Ming Dynasty several border posts were established along the frontier to Burma.

During the Ming Wanli Period (late 16th-early 17th century), Toungoo Dynasty of Burma , after the fall of the Bagan Dynasty, once again unified Burma and border conflicts arose. Chen Yongbin 陈用宾 as provincial governor for Yunnan used the strategy of "Using Barbarians to Rule Barbarians" 以夷制夷 to enlist the local population against Burma and later built a number of fortifications along the border.

The remains of these border posts have been declared cultural relics, but there exact location is difficult to pinpoint.
